What is Jugging?
Jugging is when a criminal waits for their victim to withdraw cash from a bank or ATM, and then follows them to a different location and robs them. To reduce the risk of becoming a victim of “jugging” or similar crimes, consider the following safety tips:
Be Quick
Do not count your cash in the car or linger in the parking lot. Criminals are waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike, and sitting around in our vehicle with cash makes us vulnerable.
Be Cautious
Only use ATMs in well-lit, secure areas, and avoid drawing attention to yourself. Shield your PIN while entering it at ATMs and try to conceal large amounts of cash when leaving a bank.
Be Aware of Your Surroundings
Remain vigilant in parking lots and take note of any suspicious behavior. If you think you are being followed, call the police or head to the nearest police station. Do NOT return home.
Jugging is a dangerous and costly crime.
