On Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at approximately 9:45pm, 14 year old Juan Anthony Chavez walked to Kerr Park to play basketball. At approximately 10:30 - 10:45pm neighbors heard what appeared to be 5 to 6 gunshots near the 300 block of Wathwall. Shortly after midnight the body of this young male was found lying face down in a ditch with multiple gunshot wounds.
