On Friday June 3rd, 2005 at around 3:00 in the morning police were called to a major accident in the 3700 block of Old Spanish Trail at LaSalette. Upon arrival, they discovered Sonny Syptak slumped over the wheel of his 1994 dark blue Dodge Ram truck. Mr. Syptak had been shot in the left arm and then the bullet entered his chest. He was transported to Ben Taub Hospital where he died as a result of the gunshot wound. After an investigation it was discovered that Mr. Syptak was driving from an unknown location when he was shot. It is not know how long he drove before he came to the intersection of OST and LaSalette where he hit a street sign.
