On Monday, May 30, 2016, Darrick Ward was shot to death in the 9700 block of South Kirkwood Road in Houston, Texas. During the incident, the victim parked in a strip center parking lot. A short time later, a slim young male approached the victim’s vehicle. The two men had a brief conversation and the victim exited the vehicle. As Ward exited the vehicle, the unidentified male pulled out a gun. The suspect pointed the gun at Darrick Ward and chased him around the vehicle. The victim re-entered the vehicle, and the suspect opened fire as Ward was closing the car door. Darrick Ward was shot multiple times and died at the scene. The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction of travel.
