On Thursday, January 12, 2012, at approximately 8:45 pm, a home invasion occurred at the 5700 block of Sanford at Mullins. The victims included Margaret Gage (82) and her husband Bill Gage (84). It was at 8:45 when Mr. Gage reported hearing the dog barking in the back yard. When he went to the door to investigate, the unknown suspect forced entry into the home, and began to assault him. Mrs. Gage attempted to intervene, but was brutally beaten by the suspect. The suspect then led Mr. Gage through the house, forcing him to point out valuables. The suspect fled the scene on foot with the Gage?s property. Mrs. Gage was rushed to an area hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries and died. The suspect in the case is described as a tall and slender male with dark complexion.
