N/AOn Monday, April 11, 2016, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Mr. James Weldon Ecford was shot and killed in the parking lot of condominiums located in the 8500 block of Sands Point Drive in Houston, TX. During this incident, Mr. Ecford just arrived home with his mother, who lives next door to his residence. Mr. Ecford entered his home and immediately heard his mother?s screams for help. A black male suspect was attempting to steal his mother?s purse and was dragging her across the parking lot as she became entangled in her purse straps. Mr. Ecford ran outside towards his mother in an effort to assist her. He quickly placed both his arms around the suspect in an attempt to stop the attack. The suspect pulled out a pistol and shot Mr. Ecford in the head. The suspect then turned around and shot but missed Mr. Ecford?s mother. The suspect then ran to an unknown make and model white 4-door sedan and fled the location. Forensic sketch artist composed a drawing of one of the capital murder suspects. Suspect Descriptions: Suspect #1: black male wearing a baseball hat, 27-32 years old, approximately 6?00?-6?02? tall and thin. The suspect is believed to have a hooked nose.
