On March 14, 2012, at approximately 2:15 am, Richard Coburn Jr. was walking near the 3400 block of West Fuqua when an unknown driver struck him with a white Honda sedan. The driver of the vehicle continued to the next traffic light, where he stopped and checked the vehicle for damage. The driver returned to the vehicle and drove away, failing to stop and render aid to Coburn. Mr. Coburn was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
