On Monday, March 14, 2011 at approximately 12:28 am, the victim was riding his bicycle in the 6900 block of Gulf Freeway Northbound. The victim was struck by a 1997 white Ford Explorer with North Carolina License plate YPL-5080. The driver of the explorer left the vehicle at the scene of the accident and fled on foot. The victim died at the scene.
