On December 17, 2013, at approximately 6:35 am Carl Belin was walking eastbound across the street to the east side of 10600 Hempstead Highway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The suspect vehicle was traveling southbound on 10600 Hempstead Highway. The impact threw the Mr. Belin into the air causing him to land on the roadway. The suspect vehicle fled the scene without stopping to render aid. Mr. Belin was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no know witnesses that can identify the driver or suspect vehicle.
