On Thursday, January 17, 2013, 89 year old Natividad Hernandez was walking eastbound on the 12900 block of Beaumont Highway in Harris County, Texas. At approximately 7:35 am, Hernandez attempted to cross the highway, as a commercial vehicle (possibly a truck with flatbed trailer) approached. The vehicle struck Hernandez and continued eastbound failing to stop and render aid to the victim. According to witnesses at the scene of the accident, the suspect driver drove eastbound on Beaumont Highway, continuing southbound on the Beltway. Hernandez was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
