On March 14, 2012, at approximately 8:45 pm, Richard Ybanez was attempting to cross the road near the 4300 block of East Sam Houston Parkway at Woodforest. Ybanez was crossing the road from east to west when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid to Ybanez, and fled the scene southbound on the service road toward US I-10. Ybanez was transferred to a nearby hospital where he later died. The suspect vehicle is described as a red four door sedan. Investigators believe that the vehicle suffered damage to the front left hand side. A photo of Ybanez is attached.
