On August 18, 2012, at approximately 2:30 am, the victim, Timothy Noel Hartis, was walking alongside the eastbound lane of the 5800 block of FM 1960 in Harris County, Texas. As he and a companion walked alongside the road, the suspect vehicle careened into Hartis causing his death. His companion was not struck by the vehicle directly, but did however sustain non-life-threatening injuries from flying vehicle parts. Investigators believe that the vehicle is likely a Ford pick-up truck that will have suffered passenger side mirror and right front end damage. The suspected driver of the vehicle fled the scene, failing to stop and render aid to Hartis, heading eastbound on FM 1960.
