On the night of January 10, 2013, at approximately 11:15 pm, Erika Moreno was driving near the 5400 block of Birdwood in Houston, TX, when an unidentified shooter began firing a weapon at her vehicle. In an attempt to flee the area, Ms. Moreno placed her vehicle in reverse, careening into a grassy easement on Renwick and Birdwood. There, she succumbed to wounds sustained during the gunfire and died. Witnesses in the area reported seeing a late model, black Chevrolet Tahoe fleeing eastbound on Birdwood, turning north onto Braesmont.
