Flirtatious Robbery Suspect
A tipster called the tip line to provide the name of a man that was wanted for robbery. In December 2022, a woman was getting gas when the suspect began flirting with her. She told the suspect she had a boyfriend and attempted to get into her car. The suspect blocked her from being able to get in the car. With his hand in his pocket, he demanded her purse. Before fleeing the scene, the suspect asked the victim “Where’s your boyfriend now?” Thanks to the tipster, the suspect was positively identified and charged.
Stolen Truck “Sold” on Craigslist
In September 2022; police were made aware of a victim that was defrauded out of $20,000. The victim saw a truck online and planned to purchase it from the seller. During the transaction, the victim gave the seller a cashier’s check, but the seller insisted on cash. The victim got the cash and give it to the seller in exchange for the truck, a bill of sale and title. Unfortunately, when the victim tried to register the vehicle, he found out that the truck belonged to a rental company and was sold without their consent.
Tip Leads to Seizure of $200k in Drugs and Weapons
A tipster utilized the mobile app to provide information on a suspect that had an active warrant out of Jefferson County for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Law enforcement began surveillance on the location provided and observed the suspect enter the home with multiple vehicles and multiple people. They would arrive and leave within a short period of time. Believing that the location was a “stash house”, a search warrant was granted and executed. When officers made entry they found Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Promethazine with a street value of $199,785 along with 7 weapons valued at $7,500.
Mass Shooting Thwarted
A tip came in via the mobile app providing information on a university student that had some concerning and disturbing content on their phone. The tipster was concerned that the suspect had plans to carry out a mass shooting event. This information was quickly relayed to the university police department. When they arrived, they found the suspect was undergoing a severe mental health crisis. They also found information in their phone that supported the tipsters’ concerns. Due to the mental state of the suspect, they were immediately taken to a mental health facility for evaluation and treatment.
Fatal Hit and Run Fugitive Caught
After Five Years on the Run – A tipster contacted the tip line with the location of a fugitive that was charged with a 2018 fatal hit and run. At the time of the incident, witness reported hearing the suspect call someone stating “I messed up again. I’ve got to get out of here. Come pick me up!” Witnesses also described the suspect as extremely intoxicated with poor balance. Thanks to this tipster the families of the two victims killed will begin to see justice in this case.
Mom Killed In Front of Son
A 34-year-old woman, accompanied by her three-year old son and a friend, was driving when a man pulled up beside her and opened fire. Tragically, the mother lost her life, and her friend sustained injuries from the eight shots fired. Remarkably, the three-year-old in the back seat remained unharmed. Reports suggest that the suspect, in the midst of a paranoid episode, mistakenly believed the mother was following him, even though she was driving ahead of him. A person who shared vital information through the tip line played a crucial role in assisting law enforcement in apprehending the suspect.
