- In 2020, there was a 50% increase in firework related deaths and injuries compared to 2019 (US Consumer Product Safety Commission).
- Fireworks start an average of about 19,000 fires each year (National Safety Counsel).
- Sparklers can burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit which is hot enough to melt gold (National Safety Counsel).
- Sparklers alone account for more than 25% of emergency visits for fireworks injuries (National Safety Counsel).

- Burning trash or having bonfires within the city limits is against fire code. To report complaints, illegal use of fireworks or bonfires, or suspected arson, to these non-emergency phone numbers:
