Nassau Bay Police Officer Hit and Killed
On December 10, 2019, Sgt. Kaila Sullivan of the Nassau Bay Police Department was assisting another officer with a traffic stop. The driver of the car had a warrant out of Harris County and began fighting with the officer while they were trying to place him in custody. He was able to break free and re-enter his car. As he sped away, he hit Sgt. Sullivan with the vehicle which resulted in injuries that ultimately took her life. Crime Stoppers of Houston announced a Fallen Hero Reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the capture of the suspect. Within 24 hours a tip was received providing the location of a hotel where the suspect was hiding allegedly, with the assistance of his family. As a result of this tip, the suspect was taken into custody without no further incident on December 12, 2019.
