Shoplifters Used LYFT as A Getaway Driver

In February 2020, an unsuspecting LYFT driver picked up a fare that included two females and a male with a local store as their destination. Two of the suspects (male and female) went into the store while the third waited with the driver. While in the store, the two suspects placed multiple items in a basket then attempted to exit without paying. Before they could get out of the store, an employee approached and asked for a receipt. The male suspect pulled out a gun and pistol whipped the employee and both suspects ran out of the store. The male ran to the waiting LYFT and the female ran to another business. Once in the car the male suspect used the driver’s phone to call the remaining female to get her exact location so they could pick her up. When they arrived, both suspects got out of the car and all three took off. Police were able to identify the two females, but they remained at large until a tipster provided a location.
