Thumbs up for Crime Stoppers' Safe School Program!

We keep your kids safe at school

Crime Stoppers of Houston Safe School Program has been keeping schools safe since 1997 by providing students with a safe and anonymous way to report crime and potential dangers on their campus and in their community. In addition to our TipLine, safety presentations are offered to students with an underlining message of good citizenship and keeping themselves safe, parents are presented with tools and tips for keeping their child safe and training is available to school staff and school-based law enforcement officers to assist in keeping students and schools safe. The Safe School Program has educated over 1 million students from PK-12th grade in 28 Greater Houston Area school districts, including private and charter schools and satisfies state and federal mandates.

In 2016 alone, outreach through the Safe School Program reached over 37,000 students, and directly resulted in 22 solved cases including the removal of illegal drugs and 4 weapons from our schools.

Safe School 101

  • For elementary students, presentations are video based and cover topics related to personal safety and anti-victimization. Important child safety tips are shared with parents.
  • For middle and high school students, the goal of the program is to educate students on crime prevention, current trends in criminal activity, how to identify threats to the school campus, and how to safely and anonymously report criminal activity through the 4 ways to report a tip to Crime Stoppers [via 713-222-TIPS (8477), the Crime Stoppers Mobile App, website www.crime-stoppers.org, or TEXT TIP610 plus your tip to CRIMES (274637)].
