Soul Care: Mental Health Awareness and Virtual Art Class

In this interactive class, Safe Community Program Manager, Sydney Zuiker will briefly discuss the importance of “soul care” during COVID-19. Then, Marketing Coordinator (and former art teacher), Elizabeth McChesney will lead an interactive art conversation focusing on the benefits of art making in relation to self-care. We will take a look at the artwork of famous artists who use pattern and will create a finished artwork using printmaking techniques.
To fully participate in this presentation, you are invited to gather the following materials:
– An art surface: Computer paper, drawing paper, canvas, wood panel, even a sheet!
– A color substance: Paint (acrylic or washable paint for kids) or Stamp Ink
– Stamping tools: Get creative! Anything can be used to make a pattern: Stamps, cardboard, string, dry pasta, potatoes, citrus (oranges, lemons, limes), forks, wine corks, erasers, leaves, sticks.
