On December 7, 2008, HFD responded to a 911 call at 7528 Sandra to find Chasity Taylor and her godmother Letha Perkins deceased inside the home. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area late the night before. Unknown suspects appeared to force their way into the home and fired several shots. Family members reported several items including jewelry were missing from the home. A surveillance photo captured a light colored, four-door pickup truck leaving the scene.
