Forged Check Used to “Set Em Free”
A local attorney received a phone call from “Set Em Free” bail bonds company to authenticate a check that had been presented for $1,850 to post bond for a man in jail. The attorney reported that he did not issue that check and did not 19 give anyone permission to use it. The suspect reportedly stole the check to bail her significant other out of jail for a domestic violence related charge. As part of the process the suspect had to provide her id and social security card when she presented the check. The victim quickly identified the suspect as an employee of his law firm and that she used his rubber stamp signature on the check. Based on this information, the suspect was charged with forgery but remained at large until a tipster provided her location.
